Support from Shetland Rape Crisis

We provide free, confidential, support, advocacy and information to anyone (age 13 and over) affected by any form of sexual violence. We can support you whether you experienced sexual violence recently or a long time ago, and whether or not you reported it to the police.

Please phone us on 01595 747174. If we are not able to answer the phone, and if it is safe for you to leave your details, we will get back to you as soon as possible.

You can also ring the Rape Crisis Scotland Helpline free on 08088 01 03 02. It is open every day from 6pm to midnight. You can also email: The RCS Helpline is for anyone in Scotland (age 13 and over).

If you are under age 13 please phone ChildLine free on 0800 1111 any time, day or night. You can also phone social work on 01595 744421 (weekdays) or 01595 695611 (overnight and weekends).

Our service is confidential. That means that we will not tell anyone you have contacted us, without your written agreement, unless you or someone else is at serious risk of harm. We will explain more about this when you contact us.

We understand that it can be difficult to be anonymous in Shetland. If you want to meet us, we can do this at a place or time which is safe for you and protects your privacy.

We are part of Rape Crisis Scotland and the network of rape crisis centres across Scotland. There are centres in all the main cities. We can arrange for you to get support from another centre if you prefer to speak to someone outwith Shetland, or if you need specialist services which are not available here.

If you are a friend, partner or relative of someone affected by sexual violence you can be a good support to them. There is information about sexual violence and its effects on our site. Please phone us if there is anything you would like to talk over with us

We work with staff in other agencies. If you come into contact with survivors of sexual violence in the course of your work, we can give you advice and support. We also accept referrals.

We accept referrals from other agencies. If you are a worker and wish to refer someone, we will ask you for their name and contact details. We also need you to tell us if we can leave a message on their phone and say who we are when we contact them. This is to protect their safety and confidentiality. To make a referral please call or text 01595 747174 or email
